People always ask how I am able to live this “glamorous,” traveling life.
The basic tenet of “The Law of Attraction” states that everything in our life is a direct manifestation of the thoughts we think. In other words, what we focus our attention on is what we will attract to our lives.
Using this idea, I have learned to intentionally manifest travel & work opportunities in order to live a glamorous life of travel & adventure.
In this post, I am going to share a few things that I do to intentionally attract exciting & glamorous opportunities into my life.
I say YES to opportunities
If an intriguing opportunity lands in my path, I wholeheartedly say, “yes!”
While traveling in Australia, I began seeking work-exchange opportunities that would allow me to live somewhere for free for an extended time in exchange for a few hours of work per day. As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, there are a few websites that facilitate these exchanges. However, I was sending message after message to work exchange hosts with little avail.
Then one day, I was chatting with a fellow traveler at a hostel. She began excitedly telling me about a work exchange program with a dive company on their liveaboard. In exchange for some work on their boat, a volunteer “hostie” could live aboard for up to 5 days at a time & make 4 dives per day– all for free!
As an avid diver, this sounded too good to be true! I immediately wanted in on the action. A few weeks later, I was on board diving & working with the crew.
Saying “yes” to exciting opportunities is important because it removes the potential to make excuses for not doing things you dream of doing– & let’s face it, there will always be reasons to not go chasing dreams. Some reasons are valid (ex: financial limitations) & need to be recognized & worked through. Other excuses are just that– excuses. However, saying “yes” says to the universe, “I will overcome all obstacles in order to have this experience.”
This leads to a second step.
I Meditate DAILY
Daily meditation is an important piece of manifestation that is easy to overlook, especially when we are bumbling through life & everything appears to be going smoothly.
Meditation does two things.
First, it is our time to connect our outer circumstances with our inner, all-knowing God & the universe. Before I drop into meditation, I say a small prayer asking God to provide solutions to apparent obstacles. The answers don’t always come immediately after meditation. However, there is always a renewed sense that the universe is aligning to ensure that my plans are fulfilled. As long as I am committed to overcoming obstacles, God will provide the means to do it.
Second, meditation gives us a space to witness our thoughts without judgement. It takes a lot of practice & it’s hard. However, with dedicated practice and patience, we can eventually learn to distinguish thoughts from “self.” It is then that we can recognize that thoughts are a choice. The individual has power to choose happy, positive & loving thoughts or sad, negative, & hateful thoughts. In either case, the thoughts are our own personal truths & completely dictate our outer world.
I take ACTION
“The Secret” is a book on The Law of Attraction. In this book, the author, Rhonda Byrne, suggests that manifestation is as simple as asking the universe for whatever it is you want & then waiting in faith that it will be delivered to you. Anything you want can be yours.
“The Secret” is one of my favorite books & has also been made into a documentary, which can be seen on Netflix. However, I have one small bone to pick.
“The Secret” completely disregards the importance of taking action. Thoughts do not manifest into real life simply by hoping & praying & waiting.
Returning to the example of working on a dive liveaboard, there was something I didn’t mention in that story. How did I get from saying “yes” to the opportunity & ending up aboard the boat a few weeks later?
I took action. I marched over to the dive company, asked about the volunteer program, & went through a few days of training. Only then was I ready to board the liveaboard for a few days of work & diving.
It seems obvious & simple, right? Take action. However, many of us dream of opportunities &, yet, fail to take action when the opportunities are presented, thus leading to apparent missed opportunities.
Wrapping Up
There are many times when I have said “yes!” to new & exciting opportunities without knowing what the end result will be. It’s not always easy to take a leap into the abyss– in fact, sometimes it’s flat out terrifying.
A few months ago, I committed to transferring my pharmacist license to Alaska to work there this summer. I still have no idea what kind of job I will find, where I will live, or how it will work out in the end. However, I am continuing to lean into my faith that the plans will come together through Divine intervention. By standing strong in my faith, remaining open to whatever opportunities present, & keeping my plans flexible, I know that life will come together exactly as it’s supposed to.
I know that God provides the experiences that I need, when I need them as long as I am willing to faithfully follow the opportunities that are laid before me.
Thus, the final, unifying piece in manifesting glamourous opportunities is to remain strong in your faith that wherever you are, it is exactly where you need to be to get where you are going.
Stay glamorous,
Stephanie
